Loss and Bereavement Care courses for Directors, Managers and HR Professionals

Helping our business colleagues to understand the effects of loss and bereavement and how best to support staff for whom have experienced this.

Last year, at least 40% of employee absence was due to stress, depression or anxiety. A huge proportion of this originates from some form of loss or bereavement.

Whether it’s through providing time off or flexible working for employees who have been bereaved or sensitive conversations and offers of bereavement support or counselling, employers can make a massive difference.
I can offer the following service:

-
Management workshops on supporting employees
-
Therapeutic support for staff
-
Advice on developing bereavement policies
-
Employee group sessions

As with those who are returning to work following a physiological illness, there is now an increased awareness in employers to sufficiently support those who have been absent due to mental health, psychological or emotional issues. Employers have a duty of care to staff who have suffered loss or bereavement to ensure they are fit to return to work.

Claire Henry, Chief Executive of NCPC, which leads the Dying Matters Coalition, says:

“Every minute someone in the UK dies, and almost half of us report having been bereaved in the last five years. Yet society’s response, including in the workplace, often falls short – making it even harder for people to come to terms with the loss of someone close to them.

With the number of people dying each year set to increase there’s never been a more important time to get bereavement support right, both in the workplace and throughout society.”
