Historical or Prolonged Grief

For those who continue to feel overwhelmed with grief, sometimes many years after the death of a loved one, it is important to seek emotional support.  Unreconciled grief can lead to problems effecting current relationships, or when trying to foster new ones.  Feelings of hopelessness, isolation and desperation are common.

Do not suffer in silence.

Please be reassured, that with any form of loss or bereavement, with the right kind of help, you can start to feel different and begin to adjust and reorganise your life in a way where you feel able to look ahead and reinvest in the world again.

Loss and Bereavement 1-1 Support and Bereavement Groups

Loss and bereavement comes in many forms and whilst experiences greatly differ, some of the emotions and psychological outcomes can be very similar.

If someone close to you has died, you may find it difficult to make sense of some of the immense changes this brings.  This often life-changing event can make you revaluate your world, your beliefs, your spirituality and the reality of life as you know it.

It is important to give time to mourning and bereavement and make time to adjust to this loss, however this can be extremely difficult and painful.

For those who are struggling to come to term with a loss, emotional support by a qualified professional has proven to be of significant help.  Keeping feelings to yourself or experiencing feelings of denial, whilst a normal defence mechanism to protect the brain from experiencing sadness and trauma, can sometimes lead to prolonged or complicated grief.

There is no set time limit or right or wrong way to grieve... I cannot stress enough that the only 'right' way to grieve, is your way.

Whilst grief is a natural and normal process, often there feels to be nothing normal about it at all. The normalisation of what you're going through is one of the most important ways that I can help you.

Providing a safe environment for you to talk through your experiences and grief without fear of judgement or bias, exploring different models of grief and how this may benefit you and thus enabling you to focus on your way forward through its various stages.

Talk about your loved one, talk about your relationship with them, talk about their life.
